PencilMath is a free website of home and yard calculators, operated by Pipirig P. Pavel-Ionuț PFA ("we", "us"), a sole proprietorship registered in Romania: CUI (tax id) 44029998, trade register no. F2021000536223. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it. Our privacy policy explains what information the site handles.

Results are estimates

The calculators give estimates for planning and buying materials. They use published formulas and manufacturer figures (see Methodology), and we test them, but a result is only as good as the measurements you enter, and real jobs vary: uneven ground, waste, compaction, product changes and supplier differences all move the numbers. Check quantities with your supplier before you order, and allow for extra where the page suggests it.

Nothing on the site is engineering, structural, electrical, legal or other professional advice. The calculators don't size beams, footings, wires or breakers, and they don't check building codes, permits or load limits. Where safety, structure or code compliance matter, ask a licensed professional or your local building department.

Any cost the site shows is the quantity times the price you entered, not a quote.

Using the site

You may use the calculators for your own projects and for your work, including with clients, at no charge. Please don't:

  • copy or republish the calculators, pages, diagrams or text in bulk, or present them as your own;
  • scrape the site automatically at a rate that slows it down, or try to break into, overload or disrupt it;
  • use the site for anything unlawful.

Linking to any page, sharing a result link, and quoting short passages with a link back are welcome.

Content and ownership

The site's text, calculators, code, diagrams, 3D models and brand belong to Pipirig P. Pavel-Ionuț PFA, which operates PencilMath. Product names and trademarks mentioned on the site belong to their owners and are used only to identify products; their mention is not an endorsement by or of them.

Pages link to manufacturers, standards and other sources we don't control. We aren't responsible for their content, availability or practices.

Corrections and changes

If you find a result you believe is wrong, tell us with the inputs you used. We fix confirmed errors and update the page's review date. We may change, add or remove calculators and pages at any time, and we may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and using the site after a change means you accept it.

No warranty

The site is provided free and "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that it is error-free, complete, always available or fit for a particular project.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from using the site or relying on its results, including the cost of materials ordered in the wrong amount, delays, rework or lost profits. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence, or takes away rights you have as a consumer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Romanian law, and disputes go to the courts of Romania. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country and may also bring a claim in its courts.
